Printer Test Page PDF

Every pattern on this site is also a finished PDF. Choose the sheet and the paper size, download it once, and keep it — no account, no email, and nothing leaves your browser.

Set scaling to 100%. Choose Actual Size in the print dialog, never Fit to page — scaling distorts every measurement on this sheet. The Download PDF button hands you that same sheet as a ready-made file, so there is no scaling decision to get wrong.

Every pattern at every paper size — 8 sheets × 5 formats. Each link downloads the file directly: no sign-up, no watermark, nothing added to the sheet.

How to print the Printer Test Page PDF

  1. Choose the pattern and paper size above. The size control preselects the paper for the page you opened, and the download link follows it.
  2. Click Download PDF. The file saves directly — no account, no email, no waiting.
  3. Open it in any PDF viewer: a browser, Adobe Reader, Preview on Mac, or the file app on a phone.
  4. Set paper size in the print dialog to match the file you downloaded.
  5. Set scaling to Actual Size or 100% — never Fit to page, which rescales the geometry.
  6. Print at Best or High quality on plain white paper, then compare the sheet with the on-screen preview.

Reading the result

The file opens in a browser tabNormal — browsers preview PDFs rather than saving them. Use the download icon in the viewer, or Ctrl+S / Cmd+S, and the file lands in your downloads folder.
The sheet prints smaller than the paperThe driver is fitting it to the tray. Set paper size to match the file you downloaded and scaling to Actual Size, then reprint. Both settings have to be right; fixing only one still rescales the job.
Fine lines look heavier than they did on screenExpected. Screens emit light and printers lay down ink that spreads along the fibres, so judge the sheet against a second print of the same file rather than against the display.
The PDF will not open on an older deviceEvery file here is plain vector PDF with no scripts, form fields or interactive objects for old readers to reject. If a desktop viewer still refuses it, open the file in a browser instead — nothing about it needs a desktop application.
The pattern prints correctly and the printer is healthyNothing to do. Keep the file. Reprinting the identical sheet after a cartridge change, a paper jam or a firmware update gives you an instant before-and-after comparison without reopening this site.

Also check

  • Nozzle check — The sheet most people want to keep. Download it as a PDF and leave it beside the printer for a quick clog check after the machine has sat unused for a fortnight.
  • Paper size pages — A4, Letter, Legal, A3 and A5 versions of every pattern, so the file you save matches the paper actually loaded in the tray.
  • Alignment page — Worth reprinting from a saved PDF after any cartridge change or paper jam, since skew is the fault most likely to appear once the machine has been opened.

Related test pages

  • Nozzle Check printer test page — A nozzle check is the fastest way to find out whether an inkjet printhead has clogged nozzles. Print this page and read the gaps.
  • Banding printer test page — Solid bars hide banding. Gradients expose it. This page prints both, side by side, for each channel.
  • Colour printer test page — One sheet that exercises every colour channel at once: bars, a smooth gradient, a mixing grid and a type scale.

Frequently asked questions

Is the printer test page PDF really free?

Yes. Every pattern downloads without an account, an email address or a watermark, and there is no limit on how many times you take it. The files come from the same vector engine that draws the pages on this site, so the PDF and the browser print are the same sheet.

Is it a real PDF or a screenshot of one?

A real vector PDF. Lines, blocks and text are drawn as geometry rather than pixels, so the sheet stays sharp at any size and there is no raster grid to blur the fine rows on a nozzle check or the line pairs on the resolution chart. Nothing is rasterised until the printer lays down ink.

Which paper size should I download?

The one in your tray. The control above preselects the size matching the page you opened, and all five — A4, Letter, Legal, A3 and A5 — are available for every pattern. Printing an A4 file on Letter forces the driver to crop the sheet or scale the whole thing down, and either outcome invalidates every measurement on the page.

Can I print a downloaded test page from my phone?

Yes. It is an ordinary PDF, so open it from your file app and use the system share sheet, or send it to the computer the printer is connected to. The download needs no desktop software and nothing has to be installed on either device.

What is the difference between printing from the page and downloading the PDF?

Functionally none — both are generated from the same vector source. Printing from the page always uses the pattern you are currently looking at, while the PDF is a fixed copy you can keep offline, attach to an email, or reprint weeks later without reopening the site.
