Dell Printer Test Page
Dell sold several generations of rebadged laser hardware, so the same machine answers to a different button depending on which year it shipped. The Continue-key hold and the menu routes for the common series are both below.
Set scaling to 100%. Choose Actual Size in the print dialog, never Fit to page — scaling distorts every measurement on this sheet. The Download PDF button hands you that same sheet as a ready-made file, so there is no scaling decision to get wrong.
How to print the Dell Printer Test Page
- Load plain white paper and set quality to Best or High.
- Set scaling to Actual Size or 100%, then print this sheet.
- Print the settings sheet from the table above and keep both together.
- Take status — toner life, page count, network settings — from the Dell report only.
- Judge density, fine lines and repeating marks on this sheet.
- Change one variable, reprint the same file, and compare against the first sheet rather than from memory.
Built-in test page by model series
| Monochrome lasers with a Continue key | Press Continue until all the lights cycle, then release — the settings sheet prints |
| 1133, 1135n, 1235cn, 2145cn | Menu → System Setup → Report → Configuration → OK |
| 2330dn, 2350dn, 3330dn | Menu → Reports → Menu Settings Page |
| B2375 and touchscreen models | My Settings or Menu → Reports → Printer Settings or Menu Settings Page |
| Dell driver utility | Open the Dell tab of the printer utility → Test page |
Reading the result
| Settings sheet and this sheet both print correctly | Engine, queue and supplies are working. Anything left is in the document or its print settings. |
| Solids print pale or banded | Toner is low or the drum is worn. Read the remaining-life figure on the settings sheet, then swap the cartridge and reprint the identical sheet before concluding the drum has failed. |
| Fine lines drop out at small sizes | Density is too low to hold a narrow stroke. Raise it one step and reprint until the lines hold without wasting toner. |
| A repeating mark runs down the page | Measure the pitch against the drum and fuser circumferences. The pattern identifies which unit to replace without opening the machine. |
| The Continue hold does nothing | The machine is asleep or a cover is not fully closed. Close everything, wait for Ready, then start again from a powered-off state and keep the key pressed until the lights actually cycle. |
Also check
- Black and white page — The right first sheet for a mono Dell laser, where density and text sharpness are the only variables that matter.
- Grayscale test page — A toner ramp shows where a low cartridge starts to fail, something the settings-sheet percentage never predicts.
- Laser printer test page — Density, registration and fuser faults drawn specifically for toner machines rather than shared with inkjet assumptions.
Related test pages
- B&W printer test page — Removing colour from the equation isolates density, toner coverage and fine detail problems.
- Greyscale printer test page — A grey ramp with no colour in it makes tonal problems, colour casts and scaling errors impossible to miss.
- Laser printer test page — Laser faults live in density, fusing and geometry, and none of them involve nozzles. This sheet measures how evenly toner is laid down and whether it stays on the paper.
Frequently asked questions
How do I print a settings page on a Dell laser printer?
On models with a Continue key, press Continue until all the lights cycle and release; the Printer Settings Configuration sheet prints. On the 1133, 1235cn and similar, use Menu, then System Setup, then Report, then Configuration.
What is on the Dell settings sheet?
Toner level, page count, paper configuration, network settings and firmware version. It reports what the machine believes about itself, which is not the same as how the printed image actually looks.
Why is my Dell printer menu different from the one described?
Dell sold hardware from several manufacturers across different years, so menu wording varies by series. Match the model number against the table above first; if it is not there, the Windows driver route works on every Dell ever sold.
Where is Print Test Page for a Dell in Windows 11?
Search for Devices and Printers, right-click the Dell queue and select Printer properties — not the plain Properties entry, which hides the button — then press Print Test Page on the General tab.
My Dell prints its settings page but nothing from Windows. What now?
That separates the machine from the queue. Remove and re-add the printer, confirm the port matches the connection type, and reprint this sheet through a second application to establish whether the fault is the driver or the document.
